As a lifelong arts administrator, I believe in the power of the arts and culture to change our world for the better. The arts inspire students to be creative and, therefore, stimulate love of learning. Arts build community and connect diverse groups of people in the most positive and imaginative ways. Arts buildings and collections are among our greatest architectural and cultural treasures. Artistic programs and organizations generate the highest economic returns from tourism. And, finally, the arts are truly the only thing that endures from generation to generation—standing the test of time. Let’s stand up for creativity, self-expression, cultural entities, artistic programs, and ideas. Our field deserves everyone’s full support and respect!
